Young People Fucking

Genre: Comedy

Synopsis:  Young People Fucking is a set of 5 stories or situations of sex one can find themselves in and divides it up into chapters.  All of these situations are different and cover the normal to semi-normal(?) sexual scenarios.  Ken and Jaime are at the end of their first date, Matt and Kris are best friends crossing that line to best friends who fuck, Andrew and Abby have been together long enough to forget the last time they were gettin’ in on, Eric and Mia find themselves back together after a breakup, and Gord and Dave are roommates who end up sharing a night with Gord’s girlfriend, Inez.

Review: The first time I heard the movie title I was with a group of friends.  I imagined really young people fucking like the scene in Superbad.  As funny as that movie was, I felt like an old man watching underage kids attempt to go at it.  Also the underage kids watching it beside me and my BFFE didn’t help.  Urgh…horrible!  Glad to know it wasn’t about that.  Young People Fucking is an indie Canadian movie that pokes fun at the one thing we all want which makes us strange little freaks.  I’m always up for watching independent movies because they have more freedom and tend break away from the formulas big budget movies always use.  This can be a good thing or a bad thing but Young People Fucking is an enjoyable little ride.  If you’ve ever been with someone you can probably relate to at least one of the situations.  Some of the situations relates to most of the people you know while other situations are more for the daring and closet freaks.  Relating to these characters wasn’t a problem.  What I got out of the movie were a few laughs (out loud even) but it wasn’t able to keep up that momentum.  Watching the movie was like riding a mediocre rollercoaster ride with a few good falls here and there.  I really didn’t care about the characters and what happens to them.  In fact I found the situations more hilarious if I didn’t relate to them.  If you’re looking for a movie to get a hard on or wet then look the other way.  You’ll see some tits here and there but it’s strictly an enjoyable comedy that makes light of our sexual situations and our insecurities and securities revolving around them.

RomTalk’s Movie Score – 6.5/10
